Individual Presentations

Conference participants are invited to design a PowerPoint presentation demonstrating their research. A live Q&A session will occur after the presentation so attendees can learn more from the author about their research. Your target audience is student teachers, classroom teachers and third level educators interested in up to date educational research. The presentation may focus on one or two findings from your research rather than providing an overview of your project.

panel discussion

A popular addition to the conference has been the panel discussion. The panel discussion involves a number of students and graduates who represent different HEIs across the country.  focusing on their different 'Perspectives on the Research Journey'. The panel is led by a current student member of the STER team. We always anticipate varied and interesting discussion on the theme of "Perspectives on the Research Journey". The panel discussion is of particular interest to current students who are or will be undertaking a dissertation in the near future. Panelists will provide insights into the research process and tips/advice for novice researchers. For instance, they will be asked to discuss:
  • How/why they selected their research question?
  • What was the best advice they received when doing their research?
  • What tips do they have for beginning researchers?

Who can present at the conference?

Participation is open to all final year education students and student teachers (undergraduate and postgraduate), and recent education graduates (e.g. graduated in the last two years), from all colleges in Ireland, across all education sectors, including ECE, FE, Primary, Post-primary and education studies.

If you have not submitted your dissertation at the time of the conference, you can still participate in the STER Conference or Podcast, however, you will need to have completed your data analysis. If you do not plan to have your data collection/analysis completed by the conference, then it is best to wait until the following year. You are still welcome to come to the conference and support others!
